We all need it and its more important to your overall health and wellbeing than most people truly understand.
Do you know what the Circadian Cycle is?
By textbook definition is it: a natural physiological cycle of about 24 hours that occurs even with the absence of external reminders.
What does this mean, EXACTLY?
Well what this means is that like those of you who live in Alaska or another place where you get full daylight for months at a time, regardless if the sun still being up and bright at 10pm when your getting ready for bed (hopefully) your body knows HOW to make you sleepy regardless of the sun still being up...therefore saying that your body doesn't not need external cues or reminders as to when to get sleepy, it just naturally happens! Wow are bodies are super amazing creations.
When the sun rises we wake up. This activates our cortisol hormone, and our cortisol hormone levels peak between 6am and 9am.
With the sun set, our bodies naturally produce melatonin which helps endure a sleepy state of awareness.
Melatonin is a growth and repair hormone. Between the times of 10pm and 3am our body is repairing and growing! That is why sleep is so important because if your getting a good nights rest your body cannot repair its self (say from working out or being sick with a cold) nor can it grow.
WE MUST GET TO BED BY 10pm! This means , LIGHTS OUT TOO! No Tvs on, no computers, or night lights. This type of light our body associates with the sun rise and therefore will tell your body to produce cortisol...this is not what you want when trying to loose weight and get in shape.
When we dont get to bed on time and or sleep with the lights on or a Tv on a plethora of health issues can occur such as:
just to name a few.....
SO! This is why I PREACH about getting to bed on time because your body is designed to rebuild itself during the night. be kind to your body. Give it what it needs and you will be blown away at the results you see if you stick to it.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!
