Breakfast

So its been a while since i posted a blog! My apologies, I have a lot going on in my life at the moment :)

Recently got married May 31st, and am now… 6 months pregnant with baby #2! On top of all that our business TruSelf Organics has been keeping us very busy!

Today on my Instagram page I posted a picture of a delicious breakfast I cooked for baby love and I. Here is what Ive been cooking for our main breakfast meals lately…

Cream of Buckwheats with chia seeds, fresh organic pina y frescos :) Cream of Buckwheat is both gluten free and wheat free (yes i know, disregard the "wheat" in the name, its confusing) but it is pretty easy stuff to digest and with this baby getting bigger by the hour, Im starting to run out of room in there for food AND a baby!

Its also a PERFECT starter food for your young baby who is now ready for solids…please don't buy that gerber crap. Its GENETICALLY MODIFIED and just full of filler ingredients that are hard for your little ones tummy to breakdown and digest.

Pretty breakfast :)
Picture
Ditched the flowers and added some raw almonds…before i devoured it i thought i should take another pic. Pictured are the ONLY vitamins I take.
Picture
So before I let the day go by any longer, I thought Id share with you what it was exactly that I posted earlier :)

Here is the recipe:
2.5 Cups organic cream of buckwheats
.5 cups purified water (or milk/cream..please use RAW!!)
handful of chopped strawberries and pineapple
sprinkle of chia seeds
crushed raw almonds
topped with local fresh butter
local raw honey

1. Boil water
2. add in wheats and turn burner to low
3. add in fruit and chia seeds
4. stand there and stir…and stir…and stir until its thick (abt 10min)
5. serve in bowl, top with butter, honey and almonds

Do it up however you want! This recipe is really easy and…i just had a MARVELOUS thought… adding in raw cacao powder maybe even fresh raspberries. Totes doing that tomorrow! mmm…now I'm hungry again. Story of my life!

So there you have it! A simple recipe any one can make. Even if you have NO cooking skills at all. Just don't burn the heck out of it cause it makes a big ass mess to clean ;)

For more info on how to eat, what to eat and some good recipes, download my ebook. Check it out for yourself here.

Have a wonderful day you BEAUTIFUL people.

Yes, you really are beautiful….dont forget that shit either.

Love and Light,
Amanda

Liver: Why you need it and how it reduces acne breakouts

1/17/2014

In todays society where it is easier and more convenient to get processed food than nutrient dense super foods, one has to take personal responsibility for their actions. And by actions I am talking about what you eat, what foods you buy, and how you take care of yourself and your family.

I posted today a 15 second instagram video of baby love and her morning ritual, making smoothies! I had several of my followers (which are amazing btw) ask for the recipe to the smoothie we made together!

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (whole fat & plain = less sugar)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (or fresh squeezed)
  • sprinkle of organic flax seed
  • sprinkle of organic chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup frozen organic fruit of your choice
  • 1 scoop goat whey pomegranate protein powder
  • 2 capsules of Liver Pills

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU EAT LIVER?! ITS SO GROSS!
Yes liver, to me anyways is unpalatable but I knew it was so important to have this "superfood" in not only my diet but baby loves diet as well, I did my research and eventually came across Liver Pills. THANK GOODNESS I FOUND THEM!

Did you know?
TruSelf Organics detoxifying facial mask in conjunction with a plentiful reserve of naturally derived vitamin B12 is the best way to combat ANY form of acne.

The benefits of including this superfood in your diet are endless. The main reason we take this supplement is because it provides our bodies with the essential vitamins, minerals, proteins,  and fats that are essential to healthy brain function and development.

The specific fatty acids that are needed in order for humans to maintain healthy brain function and growth are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docasahexaenoic acid), and AA (arachidonic acid) and Vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is so essential to the human body.

If you are B12 deficient you might be experiencing a whirlwind of health issues ranging from behavioral issues (ADD/ADHD), panic attacks, anxiety, depression, numbness or tingling in limbs, and loss of memory just to name a few...

In order to have a reserve of this essential vitamin in your body you must get it straight from the source. This means NOT SUPPLEMENTING YOUR B12 WITH SYNTHETIC, LABORATORY MADE B12.

You can find vitamin B12 in:
  • Liver (best source)
  • sardines
  • swiss cheese
  • blue cheese
  • haddock
  • chicken
  • raw milk
  • wild caught salmon (never farm raised)
  • lamb
  • herring

This specific brand of desiccated liver, comes from the fertile lands of Argentina. Their cattle is never given any hormones or antibiotics and is free to roam.

To recap on why including Liver is essential in your diet I have taken the following information from google.

Desiccated Liver:
  •  Excellent source of high-quality protein
  • Contains all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K that are needed to maintain healthy brain function.
  • Liver is nature's most concentrated source of vitamin A,
  • Vitamin A rapidly depleted during periods of stress, as well as by consuming a low-fat diet
  • All the B vitamins in abundance, particularly vitamin B12
  • One of the best sources of folic acid
  • Highly usable form of iron, which is good for anemic people.
  • Liver contains trace elements such as copper, zinc and chromium; liver is our best source of copper
  • Liver contains CoQ10, a nutrient that is especially important for cardio-vascular function
  • Liver is a great source of purines which is a nitrogen-containing compounds that serve as precursors for DNA and RNA (good for conception)

It is a new year, make you a new YOU! Thank you for reading!

Lots of Love and Blessings,
xoxo Amanda xoxo

J.E.R.F- JUST eat REAL food

1/11/2014

Hi beautiful people!

Today I thought I would talk about eating local, supporting local hardworking farmers and how eating clean foods can reduce your skin sensitivity, acne and other skin issues.

No Farms = No Food. Plain and Simple.

It seems obvious but yet hundreds of thousands of people still shop at giant commercial food chains.

This is all fine and dandy but do you REALLY know where your food comes from?

Like seriously, have you seen the farm, the conditions of the farm or met the farmers who grew the food you just bought? Probably not but if so, KUDOS to you!
Picture
                                 {this picture always makes me laugh}
Picture
 {Monsanto hard at work, killing us, our food, our land and our water supply}

Purchasing foods from a large food chain may be cheaper, but how much cheaper is it when the food you eat makes you sick which makes you have to go to the doctor and get on expensive medicine? It seems like an oxymoron to me...

When you buy non-organic foods UNLESS you know the exact source of the foods, most of the time its GMO (genetically modified or genetically engineered) and covered in round-up, agent orange, herbicides ect... This, in my personal opinion has been a leading cause of cancers, diseases and a plethora of other health, land and water issues.

Im super big on purchasing food that has been grown by hard working farmers that live in the same town as I do!

A great way to start doing this is to check your area for local farmers markets. They are usually on the weekends so more people have the opportunity to shop at them. I know where we live, there are a TON of farmers markets all year long.

Have you ever tried farming? Gardening? Its hard work! It is a serious time commitment and requires endless dedication to the land, animals and the people.

Some items we always source from our farmers markets are:
  • Raw Milk (don't freak out, we have a cow share so its legal.)
  • Raw Goats Milk
  • Eggs
  • Raw Honey
  • Grass fed Beef
  • Jersey Cow Butter (holy YUM!)
  • In season veggies
  • In season fruits
  • Soup Bones, Chicken Feet (used for making bone broth)
Sometimes its hard to not have the fruits and vegetables you desire when they are not in season, but doesn't this make you appreciate their deliciousness that much more when they are in season?

If you are like baby love (my daughter) and you cant go just a few months of the year with blueberries, cherries and other fruits, the easiest way to save them is with a vacuum sealer! This way you can enjoy the fruits and veggies of your choice all year long!
As you can tell from the slide show, baby love is heavily involved with the community, farms and agriculture where we live. Kids LOVE nature. It is natural for them to be outside, enjoying what God (or whatever you believe in) has given us. I highly suggest getting your children outdoors more and let them touch, taste, see, and smell the world and all its blessings!

So...Im sure some of you may be wondering what to do if you have no access to locally grown foods and farmers markets?

If you cant seem to find a farmers market in your area, try looking for and buying regional brands. This too helps keep the money you are spending every week (or day) on the food you consume in the area in which you live!

How can clean/local eating help clear my skin?

This is an amazingly powerful subject in my opinion. As you may know I am also the owner/ creator of TruSelf Organics a skin and beauty care company.

Skin is my thing! I did not always have clear skin though. It was a work in progress for me that was made easier with clean eating and products, like TruSelf Organics that contained simple yet natural and extremely effective ingredients!

I too struggled with bad skin, rashes, eczema, and the lack of knowledge on how to eat clean.

BUT! An old dog CAN learn new tricks.

This New Year is the perfect time to retrain your ways of eating and living. It's the perfect time to educate yourself on products that may be causing your skin to break out.

With this being said here is a list of foods and ingredients you must eliminate out of your diet and stop putting onto your body in order to achieve clear healthy skin and a healthy body that will last you:
  • White Sugar
  • White Bread
  • Processed Food
  • Fast Food
  • Artificial Dyes
  • Artificial flavorings
  • MSG
  • Parabens
  • Fake Parfumes
  • Sulfates
  • Petroleum

Just to name a few....

You make think "well SHIT! Thats all I have in my cupboard right now!"

It's ok. Just start by recognizing what is holding you back from a healthy body and clear radiant skin.

TruSelf Organics skin and beauty care products do not contain ANY harmful ingredients. We actually do the opposite with our products. Our goal is to source the highest quality, most natural yet powerful ingredients that work with your body instead of working against it.

Did you know? The average American woman lathers over 500 different chemicals on her body before walking out the door each morning?

With that and a poor diet, no wonder so many people suffer from health issues and bad skin. It's a double whammy on your precious body!

Start today by loving yourself, eating clean and using TruSelf Organics to reach your optimum health and to achieve clear, radiant skin.

I hope this blog post finds you well :)

If your interested check out my most recent youtube video of our visit to a local farm where we got to bottle feed baby lambs and goats!

Lots of love, blessings and positivity!

What I believe...

"The ignorant will laugh at me, but the wise will understand." Bruce Lee

"Truth has no path. Truth is living and therefore, changing." Bruce Lee

Picture

Part of what Nutritionists teach is true.
Part of what Doctors teach is true.
Part of what Personal Trainers teach is true.

What I believe is...no way is the "standard" way.

I take bits and pieces of credible information to create a total lifestyle plan for myself.

I believe in awareness of the mind, body and soul. When you have awareness you possess perception and perception alone will resolve all your problems.

I do possess a Bachelors degree of science but I am not a certified nutritionist, trainer or doctor.
I practice what I preach and my personal results have been so life altering that I feel it is necessary to share it with the world. You cannot argue with results and the results I have seen in my own personal life have been so beneficial to my overall health, physical and mental well-being I want to share my knowledge with all who want to take the time to listen/read what I have to say...and to those of you who follow me, THANK YOU! I do this all for you guys. To try and make this world healthier and happier one person at a time.

Sure you may take some of my advice to your doctor and have your doctor say that "I am crazy. I don’t know what I'm talking about." But then do this for me....ask your Dr. to pull up his/her shirt. Most doctors are more unhealthy than you, yourself! You have to take things with a grain of salt.....Drs are important in my opinion when emergency medical intervention is necessary, otherwise, our bodies were perfectly designed and created to fix themselves! That’s why we have an immune system, that’s why we have these amazing brains and hearts. They work. Let them do their job.

My fiancé and I conduct our own personal research as well as we seek out the information we are looking for through credible sources such as:

•                Weston A Price Foundation

•                Dr. Mercola

•                Paul Chek

•                Sean Croxton (JERF)

Every single person is different. We all possess different physiological chemistries. That is why I tell everyone whether it be via YouTube, Instagram or email, to tailor these workouts and "suggestions" of how to eat and live to ones own needs.

What works for me, might not work for you.

I do not follow a set standard or practice, that is why I have not pursued an education in nutritional health, physical health ect... I do not believe in one particular practice. I believe in using all the resources I have to make the best choice possible.

I want people to learn how to listen to their bodies so you can give your body what it needs!

Most importantly I want people to learn how to LOVE THEMSELVES.....that is truly my mission and goal. To teach and preach self love.

Well hello there!

Hey everyone!

I know it has been a while since i have blogged, posted a workout or even said hi! To those of you who have stuck around, I truly appreciate your patience! I have been very busy with my family and... life! Im sure you can all relate :) Sometimes life gets us going too fast. We all need to take the time to stop and smell the roses more often. So thats what I've done.

Layla is getting bigger, the weather is getting warmer, and summer is under way! I have been hard at work on my family, dialing in on some awesome recipes, and as for myself I have been doing super high intensity cardio workouts. This is something different from the last bit of workouts I have posted. The workouts I have been doing range from 9 minuets long to 20 minuets long. Its perfect!

What I try to do is wake up every morning and get it in before my day begins. I have found it very beneficial to take time for myself in the morning as my days always seem to gradually get busier as the day progresses. Its easiest for me to complete my workouts in the morning before everyone is up and going.

I know it isnt always easy to find time, but like I always say, its a lifestyle! You make time to get your nails done and hair done, so make time to focus on your pure inner beauty as well! Your body is your temple and you have to keep it looking just as nice on the inside as you invest in making the outside look pretty.

Take it one day at a time and live in the moment :)

Namaste

Organic Easter Baskets

3/23/2013

So many of us are preparing easter baskets for our kids family or friends this Easter season. When I stopped to think about what I was going to put into my daughters easter basket this year it hit me that I refuse to put nasty GMO Cadbury eggs and giant fake sugar loaded chocolate bunnies in her basket. I wanted to put all natural, organic DYE FREE and ARTIFICIAL COLOR FREE treats in it. Your probably thinking well...she's a kid and it comes once a year, why not let her eat crap for 1 day?

Living healthy and eating right is a WAY OF LIFE not just a random decision. I want my daughter to be able to make the right choices when she is old enough and on her own. When is there a better time than now to instill these priceless values within her?

Being a parent is about giving your kids the right tools to succeed in life and the tools they need to live a healthy happy life. It starts and ends with us, the parents.

This easter my daughter is getting an all natural easter basket with organic goodies.

Here are some alternatives to the traditional easter basket treats that are going in Laylas basket:

  • YumEarth Organics gummy bears

  • YumEarth sour beans

  • Glee all natural gum

  • Surf Sweets sour gummy worms
Picture

  • Chocolove dark chocolate bar (her favorite)
Picture
Picture
  • Equal Exchange organic and fair trade chocolates
Picture

I am going to be adding a few more things to her basket but this is all the "candy" she is getting and im sure it will last a pretty long time.

Sugar beets are one of the #1 items that are GMO this is why I chose organic candies because I do not want her eating things that throw off her genetic expression. This is important to pay attention to in young children as they are still growing and their genes are continuously expression themselves and changing.

The most expensive item was the chocolate eggs, but I have a special plan for those so I paid extra for them.

To each their own. I do not judge others who do not choose to do the "healthy lifestyle" living but this is the best way to live I feel and I want to share my journey with you all!

        HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!

Calling ALL PARENTS!

3/11/2013

When I was a young mother I trusted EVERYTHING my doctor told me...even when they told me to smear my precious newborn baby with toxic chemicals. No wonder her skin was always so sensitive.

Our skin is the largest organ our body has!

While I was at Meijer (a local grocery store) the other day I was on a mission. Not a mission of grocery shopping in-between 130000000 people but on a mission to find things I use to buy and use to turn those products around and to TRULY read the labels. What I found was shocking.

Most hospitals here in MI anyways all have the Johnson and Johnson "sensitive" newborn lotion that is #1 choice of hospitals readily available for all new parents to smother their newborns with :(

I too was one of those vulnerable parents that fell into the trap.

We all want what is best for our children especially our precious newborns....So we buy the best of the best. Of course your going to buy the first thing the hopsital gives you to use once you leave and go home because its #1 choice of hospitals and used by most people. what most people including myself failed to realize is what toxins I was putting all over my baby.

I still cannot believe I used this stuff on my newborn and baby!

So here it is.... Johnson and Johnson baby lotion.
Picture
And here are the ingredients...can you pronounce any of them?! It looks more like chemicals in my chemistry book than what I should be putting all over my baby...
Picture

Let me break it down for you of what some of these chemicals...I mean ingredients really are:
  1. Red 33- this is an artificial color...yes FAKE dye on your babies skin. This is what gives this lotion the pink hue.
  2. Hydroxyhydrocinnamate- kudos for you who could pronounce that on your first try..this stuff is used as a preservative to maintain the longest shelf-life as possible. If you are a chem major then you would also know that this chemical is derived from an ester and you would also know that an ester is any class of organic compounds that reacts with water to produce alcohol.
  3. Benzyl Alcohol- yet another form of alcohol. Yet this form of alcohol is labled as a toxic chemical..if you dont believe me click here. This stuff may be toxic to the liver and central nervous system but no studies have yet been done to confirm this. Still, its BAD stuff.
  4. Dimethicone- Last but not least this chemical may cause mild itching, burning, or stinging and in sever cases it can also cause rashes, hives, swelling of the mouth face and eyes...now try to decode THAT cry from your tiny baby that you are already trying to get in-tune with.

Pretty scary stuff huh? Im not trying to scare you but I got your attention didn't I? Fear sure as hell works to grab peoples attention.

So now your probably thinking, "well what the hell? I have like 10 bottles of that in my nursery from all the baby showers I had!" Its ok, your not the first person to have a stock pile of this stuff laying around.

Here is a all natural healthy and non-toxic alternative...are you ready?

COCONUT OIL!!!
yes Coconut oil will work wonders on your brand new (and grown up) baby's skin.
Of course there are some rare occasions where your child might be allergic to coconuts but
at least you will know what they are allergic to instead of trying to decipher through a "honey-dew" long list of possible culprits.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER...pass it on :)

Genetically Modified Foods- STEER CLEAR!

3/6/2013

Do you know what GMO foods actually are? Here, ill break it down for you.

GMO foods have only been available since 1994. This is likely to be the worst thing to happen to food in all of humanity!!

In 2005 about 71% of all GM crops were genetically engineered to be resistant to pesticides and herbicides. What this means is that when the MONSANTO workers spray the crops that we are consuming, all the weeds will die off but the GE crops will remain strong seeing how they were bread to withstand high doses of TOXIC pesticides and herbicides.

Studies have shown that there has been a huge decline in wildlife around farms that use or grow GMO crops. This is so sad because it only adds to the decrease in bees, birds and plants which are already being depleted. GMO crops are only expediting this process.

These chemicals and toxins go directly into our bodies when consumed. Studies show that these GMO foods cause organ failure and a multitude of other health problems in lab rats.

GMO foods are believed to be the culprit to immune disorders, reproductive problems in both men and woman, psychological and genetic health.

MONSANTO is the worlds LARGEST producer of GMO products, yet they have banned GMO food from their own workers cafeteria....? What does this tell us? It says to me they know the serious harm in the products they are GE because what company would not use their own products? This makes no sense.

MONSANTO workers when spraying crops have to wear full body suits, gloves, protective eye wear and breather masks...THIS STUFF IS SO TOXIC AND DEADLY!!

If you oppose this GE of crops and the killing of irreplaceable bees birds and plants here is what you can do to help:

  • Buy products that are certified NOT GMO! This is one way to not fund the continuation of GE foods.
  • Avoid the four most GE foods: SOY, COTTON, CANOLA, and CORN
  • Write your elected government officials and tell them to BAN or LABLE all GMO foods!
  • Take the time to meet local farmers and support them through animal shares and farmers markets.
  • READ ALL LABELS!

WE ARE THE FUTURE AND WE HAVE SAY IN WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS! Pass on the knowledge and truth and STOP unknowingly supporting people who are destroying our one and only planet.

Below is a photo of what they have are required by law to wear when doing their jobs. I do not own these photos. I got them off of google.com.

6 quick steps to losing weight the healthy way!

3/3/2013

  • Exercise- It is recommended to get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. All of my workouts are the PERFECT way to accomplish this! Click here to view my fitness playlist :)
  • Drink filtered water- Limit the amount of soda, juices or sports drinks you consume as these beverages are loaded with sugar, which we all know sugar = weight GAIN.
  • Limit refined sugar and flour intake- When these are broken down by the body, they are quickly converted into simple sugars which lead to your body storing excess fat.
  • RESIST the connivence of eating garbage..I mean fast food- If you are eating fast food just once or even twice a week and you are not seeing results in your exercise regiment, this is a HUGE contributor to weight gain. Fast foods are loaded with empty calories that leave you not satisfied. So that cheeseburger you just wharfed down, did absolutely nothing beneficial for your body, but make you more fat.
  • Hike up your fiber intake- Fiber can contribute to satisfaction when eating a meal. The higher fiber intake you have in your diet, not only will you be pooping (everybody poops) like a champion, but you will also start to notice that you are feeling full, longer! Fresh veggies, fruits and some beans are great examples of foods that are full of fiber.
  • Eat 5 small meals- Consuming 5 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones can curb your hunger and temptation to eat larger portions during meal time.

There are many other factors that play into losing weight the healthy way, I just thought it would be beneficial to highlight some ways to making your weight loss journey a tad bit easier!
