As a mother to two young girls, a wife, and business owner I understand how easy it is to get swept up in the chaotic day to day routine. On the other hand, through yoga I have learned the importance of stillness too.
Living in America there is so much pressure on us. To be successful. To make moves NOW. To be on time. No wonder everyone is getting fat and on antidepressants... its a real thing! People are stressed out, over worked, unhappy and they don't make the time to create some stillness in their daily lives.
Taking the time to reflect inwardly and create stillness within your heart is vital to surviving this fast paced life we all live in.
When you enter a place of stillness, breathing is so important. When you slow down your breathing you slow down your nervous system thus creating a calmer mind.
Creating stillness does not have to happen on the beach it can simply be sitting in your car, at work, on a plane. Where ever this life takes you, always know that there is space for stillness.
One day I was just sick of not feeling accomplished so Ive been scheduling out my day in 15 min. increments...and I've been holding myself accountable for sticking to it. It seems to be helping and I think its largely because I now know what needs to be done for the day. Its all right there laid out for me to see. NO EXCUSES.
I literally schedule everything. Make/drink coffee 6:00-6:15. Feed Jo 7:00. Shower 10:00-10:30...EVERYTHING!
Just start scheduling it. Even if it is for 30 seconds.
This morning I had the chance to find stillness on the beach listening to the waves as the sun rose. It was so peaceful and grounding. I stood there as still as possible while I focused on my breathing. Slow and deep. Really letting go of emotions and just focusing on my breathing.
Its honestly crazy how beneficial 2 little minuets of your day can bring you so much stillness and peace!
I encourage you all to give it a try...I promise you will love it. You owe it to yourself to slow down and just breath.
All my love,
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
